This week, Sophie is back after a long summer away. We play Daytrotter sessions by Palehound, Foxing, Caitlin Mahoney, and The Orange Peels, and hear what Sophie’s been up to this summer.
In our final summer episode of Daytrotter Digest, the interns graduate to featured guests Robyn and Music Fan Kayla. Listen to Daytrotter sessions from Beverly, Miss Tess & The Talkbacks, and The Civil Wars.
Daytrotter Digest intern Robyn wasn’t able to make it this week, but our other intern Music Fan Kayla made it to play some Daytrotter sessions by Cale Tyson, Kelsey Waldon, and the Holydrug Couple!
This week, Daytrotter Digest Interns Robyn and Music Fan Kayla are back yet again. Topics of discussion include Robyn’s ability to say anything sounds like a FLight of the Conchords song, Wint, and the proper pronunciation of CHVRCHES. Hear some Daytrotter sessions from CHVRCHES, HEALTH, and Happyness! (Really, we shoulda tried harder to find another all caps band to play.)
This week, Hannah and Daytrotter Digest interns Robyn and Music Fan Kayla pick some Daytrotter sessions by artists with animal-themed names, like The Pigeon Detectives, Brown Bird, Cage The Elephant, and Dog Party! Some drama arises during the episode when Robyn learns of an animal locked in her bedroom and has to take a brief trip back to solve the problem.
This week, Hannah and Daytrotter Digest interns Robyn and Music Fan Kayla return to the show for the second week in a row. They play Daytrotter sessions from Jason Isbell, Tennis, Into It. Over It., Wavves, and a BONUS Ty Segall song!
Daytrotter Digest interns Music Fan Kayla and Robyn FINALLY make their return to the show. (They’re obviously very committed to their jobs if they’ve only shown up twice this summer. Sheesh.) Anyhow, there’s a lot of chattin’ and a few Daytrotter sessions played. A couple of the sessions are bands that the whole gang has seen in the QC, like the Whistles and The Bells and Spirit Family Reunion. We also play a session from the delightful Lily and the Parlour Tricks!
As it turns out, when Hannah plays Tove Lo, she is not the first top 40 artist played on Daytrotter Digest. Back in the day (or a few months back), Sophie played some Mumford & Sons, which would have truly been the first top 40 artist. But Hannah doesn’t let that get her down! She soldiers on to play you some Daytrotter sessions from Thee Oh Sees, Diane Coffee, Cheerleader, and Kopecky.
For the Fourth of July, Hannah sets out to play only Daytrotter sessions from American artists, but immediately goofs when she plays the show’s theme song, performed by Canadian Mac Demarco. Other artists on this episode include Bully, Of Montreal, Torres, and Dawes.
This week, Hannah plays a lot of music by one of her favorite artists, Ezra Furman. Other Daytrotter sessions played on the episode include Caitlin Rose, Margo and the Pricetags, and Hamilton Leithauser.
